Reservoir Monitoring Update

By April 25, 2025

Bottom Line

Yesterday’s heavy rainfall was concentrated on the Cedar Creek and Richland Chambers watersheds, as shown in Graphic 1 below. Graphic 2 illustrates the rainfall totals for the past week, most notably are the totals in excess of ten inches in the Bridgeport watershed. As a result, the combined storage of Bridgeport and Eagle Mountain, referred to as West Fork storage, surpassed 90 percent for the first time since July 19, 2022, which was 1,041 days ago.

Projections

Bridgeport: Lake levels are expected to rise by another 13 inches over the next 48 hours, reaching 835 feet tomorrow afternoon and possibly 836 feet by Monday afternoon.

Eagle Mountain: An additional 10 inches of rise is expected over the next 48 hours, potentially reaching an elevation of 647 feet.

Cedar Creek: Spillway operations were initiated last night to manage the inflow from recent rainfall. The pool is at or near its crest for this event.

Richland-Chambers: Spillway operations were initiated yesterday to manage inflow from recent rainfall. An additional gate change was made today at 1 PM, and further increases in discharge may be needed as inflow from heavy rain near Corsicana arrives this evening.

*Projections are subject to change and are based on past precipitation.

Looking Forward

Today, storms are expected to stay north and south of the TRWD watersheds. Additional rain may occur on Saturday, with the heavier showers likely near the Red River. Sunday and Monday are anticipated to be predominantly dry. Heavy rain returns to the forecast next Tuesday. See NWS Guidance in Graphic 3.

Next Update:  The next update will be Monday.  TRWD has staff monitoring conditions 24/7 and available to answer the flood line if there are any questions or concerns.
