Four of TRWD’s Transparency Stars renewed by Texas Comptroller

By September 22, 2023

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar confirmed this week that that four of the five Transparency Stars TRWD has received from the state agency in recent years continue to meet the state’s criteria and will be renewed. The fifth star, which deals with contracts and procurements, will be reviewed early next year.

To date, TRWD is the only special district in the state to receive all five transparency stars.

Those recently renewed include Traditional Finances, Public Pensions, Debt Obligations and Economic Development. To date, TRWD is the only special district in the state to receive all five stars.

“We have appreciated being part of this Transparency Star program,” said Jennifer Mitchell, TRWD’s Director of Finance. “It has given us insight into information the public is interested in reviewing, and it helps us ensure we are providing that information in a meaningful way.”

Created in March 2016, the Transparency Stars program recognizes cities, counties, school districts and special purpose districts making important strides toward greater government transparency. Organizations that receive these awards exemplify the highest standard of financial transparency and governmental accountability in the State of Texas.
