TRWD Centennial Earth Day Photo Contest

Join Tarrant Regional Water District in celebrating 100 years of enriching communities!

We invite all K-12th grade students within Tarrant County and our service area to share their photos that teach and inspire our community to appreciate, conserve, and protect water.

Photo Contest Overview and Rules (Click to Expand)

  1. Who May Enter: The TRWD Centennial Earth Day Photo Contest is open to all young people residing within our 11 counties (Denton, Wise, Jack, Parker, Tarrant, Johnson, Ellis, Navarro, Kaufman, Henderson, and Freestone), aged between 5 and 17. TRWD reserves the right to verify entrants’ eligibility.
  1. Photo Requirements:
    1. All photographs must be taken in 2024.
    2. All photographs must be taken by the youth participant, who is the sole creator, owner, and author of the photograph.
    3. The parent or legal guardian must verify that:
      1. People featured in the photos have granted permission to be portrayed as shown.
      2. Minors featured in the images have received parental/guardian consent, with contact information provided.
  1. How to Enter:
    1. All youth participants (ages 5-17) must have parental/guardian permission and complete registration using the online form.
    2. Provide all required registration information, including grade division, thematic category, photo details, and digital adjustments.
    3. Upload images via the TRWD website following instructions carefully.
  1. Contest Entry Period: Open from March 1st at 12:01 am CST to April 15, 2024, at 5:00 pm CST.
  1. Grade Divisions and Thematic Categories:
    1. K-2nd grade
    2. 3rd-5th grade
    3. 6-8th grade
    4. 9-12th grade

    Within each grade division, participants may enter one image into one or more of the thematic categories listed below. The same photo cannot be entered into more than one category.

    • Appreciating Water in Our Lives
  1. Ethics: Photos must respect the rights of others and avoid threatening, false, misleading, defamatory, vulgar, or derogatory content. No harm to people, plants, animals, or natural resources is allowed.
  1. Technical Requirements: Digital images (png or jpg) with a max file size of 52 MB. Photos must accurately reflect the subject and scene. Disqualification for digitally altered images beyond standard optimization or use of AI-generated images and artistic filters/effects.
  1. Judging: Photos judged on originality, clarity of theme, impact, and artistic merit by an impartial panel. Winners notified by email and telephone.
  1. Prizes: Grand Prize for each grade category, along with 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and Honorable Mentions for each thematic category. Winning photos featured on TRWD platforms and displayed at TRWD Administrative campus in May 2024. Winners receive a ribbon, certificate, and a framed copy of their photograph.
  1. Binding Agreement: Participants must agree to the Official Rules to enter the TRWD Centennial Photo contest.
  1. Use Agreement: Participants grant TRWD permission to use their photos for educational and promotional purposes, waiving the right to inspect or approve such use.
  1. Privacy: TRWD will use personal information in accordance with its privacy policy. Participants give consent for the publication of their name and city of residence.
  1. Limitation of Liability: Participants release TRWD from any claims resulting from participation in the TRWD Centennial Photo Contest, including Covid-related issues.
