Reservoir Monitoring Update

By June 24, 2020

TRWD continues to monitor reservoir conditions 24 hours a day.  Currently Bridgeport and Eagle Mountain are making flood discharges.  The Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers spillways remain closed.  Discharges at Eagle Mountain are in the process of being reduced to 3,710 cfs this morning.    Additional updates to flood discharges will be posted here.

There was rainfall in the Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers area overnight, see Graphic-1.  Rainfall totals for the past 5 days are shown in Graphic-2.  The normal rainfall total for June in North Texas is around 3.8 inches.  The Bridgeport and Eagle Mountain watersheds received over a month’s worth of rain in a span of 4 to 5 days.  National Weather Service (NWS) guidance for today can be seen in Graphic-3.   Skies should be clear in the Bridgeport area with low rain chances near Eagle Mountain.  Chances increase to the southeast in the Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers area.  Please continue to follow the NWS and the River Forecast Center (RFC) for the latest information regarding the weather and river conditions, respectively.

Reservoir Projections

  • Bridgeport is expected to continue a slow descent today.
  • Eagle Mountain Lake is expected to rise slightly as water from the Boyd area arrives.  The pool is expected to rise to approximately 1-foot over conservation level today.
  • The rate of rise at Lake Worth has slowed this morning, when compared to last night’s rate of rise. This rate will be further slowed by the reduction in Eagle Mountain discharge this morning.  Lake Worth is expected to continue the slow rise before leveling out around 1.5 feet over conservation level later today.

Please be advised that forecasts and projections are subject to change, and TRWD reservoir operations are based on observed rainfall conditions.  Next update will come tomorrow morning.  Please check back.
