You can reuse water from boiling any vegetables by putting it into the plants this way you weren’t throwing it into the sink and wasting water.

Alistair, Grapevine Elementary

This is me filling up a watering can from our rain barrels. We conserve water by using rain barrels to collect water when it rains and then we can use that water for our plants and flowers.

Lilian, Keller High School

Little leaks just like the one from your water hose can be grow and become a large waist of water over time. Don’t underestimate the significance of a little drip, after all an ocean is made up of droplets.

2ND PLACE WINNER

Casey, Colleyville Heritage High School

My photo is of a watering can getting filled up from our rain barrel. This can teach people how to protect or conserve water because it is important to save rain water to use later and protect our water supply!

Water is essential for all life on Earth. By protecting water from harmful chemicals, we are not only ensuring the well being of its inhabitants but also improving the health of our environment.

Yes, this flower is beautiful, but to me it means more than just beauty. My great grandmother worked in her garden my entire life, creating beautiful arrays of plants and flowers for her loved ones to enjoy as they sat on her light blue porch listening to the sound of her wind chime collection. Last year, she passed from dementia and it took a large tole on me. I constantly searched for any remanence of her, as I slowly forgot the sound of her laugh. This past week, me and my mother went to buy flowers to plant in our own backyard. We saw this beautiful Lantana plant of light yellow flowers and vibrant green leaves and knew we had to have it. We both agreed it truly reminded us of Grandma. As we said this, a delicate monarch butterfly landed right upon the leaves of the plant, and wouldn’t leave it alone for minutes on end. Its safe to say my mother and I took this is a definite sign to get this plant and put it somewhere special. Now, this flower is planted right next to my swinging bench in my backyard. I constantly admire it as if my great grandmother grew it for me herself. Water bring things to life, including memories of being a little kid playing in your grandmother’s garden.

3RD PLACE WINNER

Small animals, such as birds and insects, often have challenges finding water and are very grateful when plants store them. Just like them, humans should also learn to appreciate every ounce of water that makes living possible.
