TRWD is partnering with Cristo Rey Fort Worth, a Catholic college preparatory school, again this year to help prepare young men and women in Tarrant County for college.
For the third straight year, the District’s staff is mentoring the high-school aged students and providing real-life work opportunities that help pay for up to 50 percent of the cost of their private education.
“The Cristo Rey work-study model is amazing and the success of their program speaks for itself,” said Shelby Lyon, TRWD’s director of human resources. “Cristo Rey students exhibit a proven commitment to their education while also receiving workplace experience and pursuing college dreams – many of which will be first generation college students. Seeing their success and personal growth each year entices us to continue our partnership with Cristo Rey.”
