TRWD’s Environmental Services Division was recently awarded a North Central Texas Council of Government’s CLIDE Award for its work on its Rainscapes Program. The District was one of two recipients in the category of Special Development.
The CLIDE Awards Program, created in 2003, recognizes public and private entities including cities, developers, architects, planners, and engineers to encourage innovative development projects and practices that will help accommodate expected growth and ensure a sustainable North Texas for generations to come.
“The TRWD Rainscapes address stormwater at its source by incorporating green stormwater infrastructure features into urban landscapes,” said Michelle Wood-Ramirez, TRWD’s Urban Programs Coordinator. “These features not only solve the issue of where stormwater is going, but also provide ecosystem services by filtering pollutants and reducing sediment before it reaches our neighbors downstream.”
TRWD’s Rainscapes program addresses stormwater at its source by incorporating green stormwater infrastructure features into urban landscapes. These raincapes not only solve the issue of where stormwater flows, but also help filter the water and reduce sediment before it returns to local watersheds.
